James Brown, MA, MTA is a certified music therapist with experience practicing in long term care, group homes, adult mental health, and with disabled and neurodivergent individuals. James emphasizes a community oriented approach to music therapy and hopes for clients to find a sense of belonging. James has a Bachelor of Music from Queens University where he studied piano. James also works as a private music instructor, conductor, and composer. As a commissioned composer, James has had choral and orchestral works performed internationally. He is currently the conductor of the Voices of Joy Community Choir in York Region.
Mimian is a certified music therapist who completed her Master in Music Therapy at Wilfrid Laurier University. She has experience working in a variety of settings including pediatric rehabilitation, palliative and hospice care, mental health, and long-term care. Mimian draws from her warmth and experiences, and emphasizes a person, culture, and strengths-based approach for her clients. She believes music is a form of personal expression and connection, and when used intentionally, can support a person’s well-being and growth. When she is not working, Mimian enjoys camping, cooking, and playing cello in community orchestra.
Tim (he/him) is a certified music therapist who has received his Master of Music Therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University. Previously, Tim has completed his internship in a variety of settings, including hospices, palliative care, long term care homes, community living and mental health facilities. Tim draws from a humanistic, resource and strength based approach in his practice. Aside from music therapy, Tim is also a piano accompanist, teaching assistant, and singer with VIVA Singers Toronto.
Aprajita is a certified music therapist and the manager for the Music Therapy Centre. In her journey as a music therapist, she has had the opportunity to work with children and older adults with varying goals, mental health needs, and cultural backgrounds. Her clinical work is rooted in a person-centred approach that involves the use of music to connect and support individuals with their holistic wellness goals. Her recent research initiatives have focused on building advocacy around the use of creative arts therapies for mental health in North America and India. Additionally, she is working towards incorporating Indian classical music in performative theory contexts to understand its impact on relaxation and emotional regulation within international audiences.
Trish has been practicing music therapy since 2006. She has extensive experience working with individuals/groups in adult mental health, dementia care, palliative care and Veterans care. Trish uses a client-centered approach; she works with clients in moving them towards positive change. Trish is a Registered Psychotherapist and Fellow of the Association for Music & Imagery, certified in The Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music. Since 2008 Trish has been supervising music therapists and psychotherapists seeking certification with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
Emily has been practicing music therapy since 2014. She has worked with people of all ages and abilities in various settings including early intervention, acquired brain injury, disability, and mental health. Emily utilizes a humanistic, strength-based approach to support and create opportunities for personal growth and development.
Jane Proctor is a certified music therapist and mother of three. She earned a Master of Arts degree in experimental psychology at the University of British Columbia, and completed her Bachelor of Music Therapy degree at Capilano University. Jane has worked with children with development challenges, adults with special needs and seniors in long-term care. She has a special interest in helping people use music to connect with others and to manage the stresses of their daily lives.

Justine has been providing music therapy services in Toronto, Caledon and Hamilton since 2013, after finishing her training at Capilano University. Her approach is eclectic, client-centred and focuses on being present with her clients – meeting them in the moment, right where they are. With a connection based on safety and trust, she can offer opportunities for expression, growth, and creative experiences both in and out of the music. Justine supports older adults, adults and adolescents living with mental illness, acquired brain injury, dementia or other conditions of aging, and physical and/or developmental disabilities.
Joanne is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University. She has experience working with a variety of populations, and enjoys connecting with each of her clients through hearing their stories. Joanne primarily uses guitar, piano and voice in sessions, but she specialized in French horn while in school.
Reenie (she/they) completed her Master of Music Therapy program at Wilfrid Laurier University. She has experience working with older adults in long-term care, palliative care, complex continuing care, and mental health, as well as group therapy with LGBTQ+ youth. She takes a feminist / anti-oppressive approach and is passionate about co-creating safer spaces for growth and healing.
Lauren Willis is a graduate of the Bachelor of Music Therapy program at Acadia University. They have over three years of experience providing music therapy services in long-term care settings through practicum placements, recreation roles, and volunteering. Lauren is now interning with the Music Therapy centre to support a diverse clientele ranging from children to older adults to support their clinical goals through music therapy services.
