Our group sessions bring together individuals with shared experiences and goals. From Autistic preschoolers to adults living with addiction, we provide a safe and welcoming space to connect and grow through music. In music therapy sessions, you’ll explore personalized techniques tailored to your needs and goals. Your Certified Music Therapist may use music listening for relaxation, playing instruments to enhance focus, or creating music for self-expression. Each session offers a safe space to connect with yourself through music.
Whether you’re improvising, re-creating songs, or listening to melodies, these approaches are designed to help you heal, grow, and achieve your goals. No musical experience is required—just an openness to explore the power of music.
The Music Therapy Centre is located in the heart of downtown Toronto (Bloor and Dufferin) where we welcome clients for in-person sessions throughout the week. Our space is fully accessible with wide hallways, rooms, and a bathroom large enough to accommodate most mobility devices. Our front door is automated and can be opened with a button. There are no bumps or barriers to crossing the threshold. If you have any questions or concerns about the accessibility of our space, please reach out to us to discuss any accommodations you may need.
Can’t make it in person? We’ve got you covered! Our therapists travel throughout the city to community organizations, group homes, and individual residences to deliver music therapy sessions when appropriate. We also offer virtual music therapy sessions through Jane, a secure and easy-to-use telehealth platform. No matter where you are, you can access our services with peace of mind, knowing your privacy is protected. Jane is fully HIPAA, PIPEDA, and GDPR-compliant, ensuring your online sessions are safe and confidential.
After years of financial challenges and evaluation, our Board has begun a strategic transition to strengthen sustainability and expand our reach. As part of this shift, we have made the difficult decision to close the Music Therapy Centre on Bloor Street at the end of this year. We know how meaningful this space has been for clients, staff, and our community.
This change allows us to focus resources on programs that meet people where they are and support more communities across Canada. Most people never see where our work truly happens: youth shelters, community programs, long-term care homes, hospitals, and other settings where accessible music therapy can change lives. This has always been the heart of the Canadian Music Therapy Fund, and it is where your support matters most.
We are working closely with all on-site clients to ensure continuity of care and to help identify alternative programs. If you or your family need help navigating next steps, we are here. CMTF remains fully active, committed, and focused. This is an evolution that allows us to deliver our mission more sustainably and invest more deeply in off-site programs that reach those who need us most.
If you are able, a donation today helps ensure uninterrupted support through this transition and keeps accessible music therapy available where it matters most. Thank you for standing with us and believing in this work.
