Anti-Racism
The Canadian Music Therapy Fund is an organization that values respect and dignity for all people. We stand in solidarity with Black and Indigenous peoples. Racism has no place in music therapy. Yet, we still have much work to do as individuals and as an organization. We recognize the systemic racism that exists in the education, certification and practice of music therapy, and are committed to effecting lasting change. We are also committed to learning and to doing better, including reviewing our practices regarding access to the funding resources we oversee across Canada.
We will use our platform to raise unheard voices.
We will elevate music and other forms of creative expression that raise awareness around the lived experiences of oppressed people. We will highlight opportunities to give to organizations that support anti-racist policy and action. We will promote organizations that provide mental health support to the marginalized communities that need it the most. We will hold ourselves accountable and we ask to be held accountable by you.
